Audit Senior

Our Client, one of Malta’s leading professional services firms, is seeking an Audit Senior to join its growing Audit and Assurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accounting professional to take ownership of audit engagements, work with a diverse portfolio of clients, and contribute to delivering high-quality audit and assurance services.

The successful candidate will work closely with Audit Managers and Partners, oversee audit assignments, support the development of junior team members, and build strong client relationships while further enhancing their technical expertise and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

Assist Audit Managers in planning audit engagements, assessing risks, and performing statutory audits in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISAs). Prepare Financial Statements: Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with applicable financial reporting frameworks, including IFRS, GAPSME, and GAPEE.

Lead Audit Engagements: Coordinate audit assignments, manage engagement timelines, and supervise audit teams to ensure work is completed efficiently and to the required quality standards. Review and Develop Team Members: Review audit work performed by junior staff, provide constructive feedback, and support their ongoing technical and professional development.

Manage Client Relationships: Maintain effective communication with clients, address audit-related queries, and build strong professional relationships with key stakeholders. Ensure Quality and Compliance: Identify potential audit issues, document findings, recommend appropriate actions, and ensure compliance with relevant auditing, accounting, and regulatory Requirements Previous experience in external auditing, with the ability to manage audit assignments and work with a varied client portfolio.

Strong knowledge of International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) and applicable financial reporting frameworks. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with a strong attention to detail. Proven ability to lead, coordinate, and motivate audit teams while managing competing priorities and deadlines.

Excellent written and spoken English, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. A proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative approach, with a commitment to continuous learning and delivering high-quality client service. Licences & Qualifications A Master’s degree in Accountancy, a degree in Accountancy or an equivalent qualification, or full ACCA qualification.

A minimum of two years’ experience in an auditing role would be considered an asset. Familiarity with IFRS, GAPSME, and GAPEE reporting requirements would be advantageous. Relevant professional accounting qualifications recognised in Malta will be considered an advantage.
