Summary The instructor is responsible for implementing an instructional foods program that will establish the development of the students' skills in Culinary Arts with a focus in pastries and desserts.

Included in instruction are safety and sanitation, cooking and baking methods and techniques, advanced cooking, identification of tools and ingredients, nutrition and menu development.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement lessons to teach skills required for students to master competencies in culinary art with a focus in pastries and desserts. Provide group and individual instruction utilizing effective teaching strategies, aids and equipment Evaluate students' skills and career readiness competencies, and maintain accurate student records Responsible for teaching students about culinary terminology, food cuisines and general food knowledge.

Responsible for teaching students about supplies and equipment used in the culinary arts field. Inform students of career opportunities in and related to the field of Culinary Arts. Keep abreast of current practices and training methods Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records. Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions Adhere to IEP's and differentiated instruction.

Perform all other related duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent 2+ Years of Teaching Experience (required) 2+ Years of Experience and knowledge in culinary arts with focus in pastries and desserts (required) Knowledge of industry-standard safety and sanitation practices in a restaurant or food production facility Must have Serv.

Safe certification during first year of employment Skilled in verbal and written communications Knowledge and application of a variety of teaching strategies to engage all learners Ability to write lesson plans for individual and group instruction Ability to use diverse teaching strategies to meet students' learning styles, abilities, interest, and cultural backgrounds Teaching and food service supervisory experience preferred Love and appreciation for the arts and arts education Teaching certification (preferred but not required) Salary and Benefits Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with experience.
