Nurse Educator

Position Summary

Plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates education for nursing personnel to include orientation, in-service training, staff development and continuing education.# Assists with staffing and provides direct patient care.# Participates in Nursing Quality Improvement activities.# Assists in the implementation and evaluation of patient and/or family teaching.

Education

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required (or actively pursuing) upon#hire.
2. Master#s degree in nursing is preferred.#
3. Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.#
4. Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification required upon hire.
5. Certification in desired specialty within three (3) years of hire.# Training and Experience:
6. Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of clinical experience required
7. One (1) year teaching experience preferred. Job Knowledge:
8. Knowledge of current health care concepts, trends or issues as#they relate to nursing.
9. Successful completion of general and nursing orientation upon hire.
10. Complete the following competencies within three (3) months of#hire or transfer: Unit Orientation; Unit Safety; Attendance requirements; Utilizes Policy # Procedures as a resource in patient care area; Demonstrate Nursing Process elements: Assessment# Diagnosis Outcomes Identification# Planning Implementation# Evaluation Age-specific care; Body substance Isolation; Medication Administration; IV Therapy; Blood and Blood Component Administration;# Participation in Code Blue; and Restraint Training. Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Ability to perform:
11. Heavy lifting; and
12. Sustained standing and walking.
13. Ability to work under stress.
14. Flexible work hours. Exposure to infectious diseases.
