Responsible for assisting participants in and out of the vehicle, assisting as necessary in chairlifts and/or wheelchairs. Deliver supplies as scheduled. Keep transportation records of pickups and drop offs and deliveries. Communicate regularly with dispatchers, Transportation Supervisor and other pertinent staff. Responsible for ensuring vehicle cleanliness and proper operating maintenance.

Completes ongoing training program requirements as per agency policy for the following essential elements and driver recertification: annual wheelchair and passenger assistance, vehicle and medical emergency procedures, and safe driving techniques. Attends in-services as required. Validates competency in basic skills and transportation services, annually, and as otherwise required.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid driver's license to operate a van or bus within the state of Ohio; no more than two points permitted upon hire required. One year transportation experience with competence in transporting individuals with special mobility needs; a minimum of one year experience working with the frail or elderly population.

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or CED preferred. Safe driving training required; knowledge of Cleveland/Cuyahoga County streets desirable.
