About the Company Our client is a well-established plant services company based in Ermelo, supporting the industrial and mining sector in Mpumalanga. The business provides fabrication, repair and maintenance services on heavy plant and equipment and is known for practical, reliable workmanship and quick turnaround on site and in the workshop.

Purpose of the Role The Qualified Boilermaker will fabricate, repair and maintain steel structures, plate work and heavy equipment components, both in the workshop and on client sites. The role is central to keeping plant and equipment safe, sound and running with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches and specifications to plan and set out work Mark off, cut, shape, bend and fabricate plate, sections and structural steel to specification Weld using MIG, arc (SMAW) and [TIG / flux-core] processes, including structural and repair welding Carry out repairs and modifications on [buckets, chutes, bins, liners, conveyor structures, trailers and yellow plant components] Operate workshop equipment safely, including rollers, guillotines, press brakes, grinders and gas cutting equipment Perform on-site repairs and breakdown work as required, including shutdowns Check own work for accuracy, quality and fit-up before handover Complete job cards, material usage records and safety documentation accurately Follow all health and safety procedures, site rules and PPE requirements Keep tools, equipment and the work area clean, maintained and in good order Requirements Minimum Requirements Grade 12 / Matric (or N2 equivalent) Red Seal Trade Test Certificate as a Boilermaker (non-negotiable) Minimum 3-5 years' post-qualification experience Proven welding and fabrication experience in a heavy industrial, mining or plant environment Able to read and interpret engineering drawings Valid driver's licence (Code [B / EB / C1]) and own reliable transport Able to pass a pre-employment medical and site access requirements Advantageous Coded welder certification Experience in plant hire, mining maintenance or earthmoving equipment repair Working at heights and confined space tickets Experience on mine sites and shutdown work Residing in or near Ermelo Personal Attributes Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship Safety-conscious and disciplined Able to work independently and as part of a team Reliable, punctual and willing to work overtime, standby and weekends when required Physically fit and comfortable working in demanding site conditions
