Sushi Chef

Position Overview

A Sushi Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and other Japanese dishes, ensuring excellent presentation, freshness, and taste. The role requires strong knife skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of Japanese culinary traditions.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare sushi, sashimi, nigiri, maki rolls, and specialty dishes Select, inspect, and properly store fresh fish and seafood Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation Develop and present dishes with precision and artistic presentation Prepare rice, sauces, and garnishes according to recipes and standards Manage inventory and assist with ordering ingredients Maintain cleanliness of the sushi station and kitchen equipment Interact with customers (if working at a sushi bar) and provide recommendations Ensure consistent portioning and quality control Collaborate with kitchen staff and restaurant management Requirements Previous experience as a sushi chef or Japanese kitchen cook Strong knife handling and fish preparation skills Knowledge of sushi rice preparation and seasoning techniques Understanding of seafood selection and handling practices Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Excellent attention to detail and presentation skills Food safety certification (preferred or required depending on location) Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays Benefits Work Conditions: Green Coast Hotel-MGallery Collection is an equal opportunity employer that offers a professional and dynamic work environment, an attractive compensation and benefits package, and opportunities to develop your professional potential fully.
