Responsibilities
Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins tailored to research-driven web applications Optimize website performance, security, and scalability through efficient PHP, MySQL, and frontend code Implement responsive and accessible designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including modern frameworks where applicable) Collaborate with UX/UI designers and researchers to translate wireframes and prototypes into functional web interfaces Conduct regular code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure high code quality and system reliability Integrate third-party APIs and services to extend functionality and support data-driven research initiatives Ensure compliance with web standards, SEO best practices, and accessibility guidelines (WCAG) Document technical specifications, development processes, and system architecture for knowledge sharing and future maintenance Stay current with emerging WordPress trends, security updates, and industry best practices Requirements Requirements: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in WordPress development, including theme and plugin creation Proficient in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (ES6+), with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming Experience with WordPress REST API, custom post types, taxonomies, and hooks/filter systems Familiarity with version control systems (e.
g., Git) and agile development workflows Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in code quality and performance optimization Understanding of web security principles, including protection against common vulnerabilities (e.g., XSS, CSRF) Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced R&D environment Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) Portfolio or GitHub repository demonstrating live WordPress projects and technical expertise Preferred Qualifications: Experience with headless WordPress or decoupled architectures Knowledge of modern frontend frameworks (e.
