Senior Design Manager - Europe Central

As a Senior Design Manager Central Europe (m/f/d) , you will lead the design and technical delivery of complex, mission-critical data centre projects from concept through construction and commissioning. Working within our Design, Engineering & Construction organisation, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, ensure our global and regional design standards are applied, and take ownership of key technical decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

What you will do

Lead and manage external design consultants and commissioning partners, ensuring high-quality and buildable solutions. Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities across CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) disciplines. Ensure projects comply with Digital Realty’s global and regional design engineering standards, technical requirements and project objectives.

Manage design programmes, budgets, changes, risks and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle. Take overall technical ownership of design matters and maintain design intent through construction and commissioning. Support construction teams by resolving RFIs, design queries and technical issues in a timely and practical way.

Work closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, suppliers, customers and relevant authorities to align technical requirements and project priorities. Contribute to design standardisation, innovation and continuous improvement by applying lessons learned across projects.

What you will bring

Experience delivering mission-critical, highly technical or complex building/infrastructure projects . Data centre experience is an advantage, but experience from comparable technical environments is equally relevant. A degree in Engineering, Architecture or a related technical discipline , or an equivalent qualification.

Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary design coordination, ideally involving CSA and/or MEP systems. Proven ability to manage external consultants and coordinate multiple technical stakeholders and priorities. Confidence in making, communicating and constructively defending technical decisions. A structured and proactive approach, with the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills across design, construction and commissioning teams. Very good written and spoken both German and English .
