Product Engineer (Shah Alam)

About the role

We are looking for a Product Engineer to support the development of vehicles tailored to overseas markets. In this role, you will conduct market research, identify consumer needs, analyze competitive trends, and translate local market insights into innovative, customer-focused product solutions. Collaborating closely with global R&D and cross-functional teams, you will help shape product strategies, strengthen vehicle competitiveness, and deliver products that meet the evolving needs of local markets.

Key responsibilities

1. Industry, Market & Consumer Insights Conduct in-depth research on automotive industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulations in target overseas markets to identify opportunities and challenges. Analyze data, consumer behavior, and socio-cultural insights to uncover local consumers’core needs, preferences, and pain points. Deliver periodic market trend reports to support product strategy decision-making.
2. Automotive Design, Product & Technology Trends Monitor global and local automotive design trends, innovation directions, and technological advancements (e.g., electrification, connectivity, autonomous driving). Evaluate market potential of advanced technologies (e.g., ADAS, AI-powered cabins, energy systems) and propose differentiated product solutions. Collaborate with the team to align product definitions with technical feasibility and forward-looking vision.
3. User Research & Product Validation Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research (e.g., focus groups, in-depth interviews, surveys) to refine user personas and scenario-based requirements. Conduct competitive benchmarking (product specs, pricing, UX, etc.) and gap analysis. Coordinate market testing with HQ, overseas institutes, regional teams, and third-party partners to validate product hypotheses.
4. Market Analysis & Product Strategy Define product USPs, feature bundles, and pricing strategies based on market, user, and competitor data. Develop localized product definitions (target audience, usage scenarios, value proposition) and contribute to overall product planning.
5. Product Lifecycle Management Assist in roadmap planning (model refreshes, facelifts, phase-outs), track post-launch performance (sales, reputation, satisfaction) and propose optimizations. Serve as the liaison between local markets and product teams to ensure accurate requirement translation and execution, and support sales/marketing in product training and launch material preparation.
6. Local Demand Management Oversee demand collection, analysis, and validation, ensuring full accountability for requirement implementation in assigned regions.

Qualifications

& Skills Bachelor's degree or above; preference for Automotive Engineering or any relevant background. 1+ years experience in automotive industry, market and product insight, or product planning. Overseas market experience (especially target regions), with knowledge of local consumer habits and regulations. Hands-on experience in 1–2 full vehicle lifecycles (concept to mass production).

Fluent in English and Malay (written, listening, and speaking). Experience with analysis tools such as UserTesting, Tableau, or similar tools. (Preferred)
