About the Role

The CDL Truck Driver plays a critical role in the transportation and logistics industry by safely and efficiently operating commercial vehicles to deliver goods across various distances. This position requires the driver to adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations while ensuring timely delivery schedules are met.

The driver will be responsible for inspecting the vehicle before and after trips to maintain safety and operational standards. Effective communication with dispatchers, customers, and team members is essential to coordinate routes and resolve any issues that arise during transit. Ultimately, the role contributes to the seamless supply chain operations by ensuring that products reach their destinations intact and on time.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle class being operated. Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past three years. Ability to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screening. Current DOT medical card. Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and safety standards.

Experience operating commercial trucks, including handling cargo and performing vehicle inspections. Reliable transportation to report to work.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems. Dump truck experience preferred. Familiarity with hazardous materials (HAZMAT) transportation and certification. Strong customer service skills and ability to handle delivery documentation accurately. Basic mechanical skills for minor vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance.

Responsibilities

Operate commercial motor vehicles in compliance with all applicable laws and company policies. Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and maintenance. Load and unload cargo securely, verifying shipment contents and documentation. Plan and follow efficient routes to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption.

Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery status and any delays or issues. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and vehicle condition as required by regulations. Report any mechanical problems or accidents promptly to management. Skills: The CDL Truck Driver utilizes their driving skills daily to operate large commercial vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all transportation laws.

Attention to detail is critical when performing vehicle inspections and securing cargo to prevent accidents and damage. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with dispatchers and customers, providing updates, and resolving issues promptly. Time management and route planning skills help optimize delivery schedules and fuel usage, contributing to operational efficiency.

Additionally, familiarity with technology such as electronic logging devices and GPS systems supports accurate record-keeping and navigation during trips.
