About the Role

As a Lift Operator at Schuss , you will play an important role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of our guests as they navigate the slopes. Your primary responsibility will be to safely operate and monitor ski lifts while assisting skiers and snowboarders with loading and unloading. You will help maintain a safe environment by following established safety procedures, responding to guest questions or concerns, and communicating operational issues promptly.

You will work closely with other resort team members to help ensure lift operations run efficiently throughout the day. Your efforts will directly contribute to creating a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for guests visiting Schuss Mountain.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to work outdoors in varying winter weather conditions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Customer-service-oriented mindset. Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as a lift operator or in a similar hospitality, recreation, or outdoor operations role. Basic knowledge of ski lift operations and safety procedures. First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently operate ski lifts in accordance with established procedures. Assist guests with loading and unloading from lifts. Monitor lift operations and conduct routine checks to help ensure equipment is functioning properly. Provide friendly, professional assistance to guests and respond to questions or concerns.

Enforce safety rules and procedures to help maintain a safe environment for guests and employees. Monitor loading and unloading areas for potential hazards. Communicate operational or mechanical concerns promptly to supervisors and maintenance personnel. Collaborate with maintenance and mountain operations teams as needed.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lift area. Remain attentive to changing weather, snow, and operating conditions. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Competencies Communication Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, coworkers, supervisors, and other resort departments. Attention to Detail Ability to remain alert while monitoring lift operations, guest activity, and potential safety concerns.

Guest Service Demonstrates a friendly, helpful, and professional approach when assisting skiers, snowboarders, and other resort guests. Safety Awareness Understands the importance of following established procedures and maintaining a safe environment around lift equipment and loading areas. Problem Solving Ability to recognize potential operational concerns, respond appropriately, and notify the proper personnel when assistance is required.

Teamwork Works effectively with fellow lift operators, maintenance personnel, ski patrol, and other mountain operations employees to support safe and efficient resort operations. Working Conditions This position requires working outdoors for extended periods in cold temperatures, snow, wind, and other changing winter weather conditions.

Employees must be able to remain standing for extended periods and perform repetitive movements associated with lift operations. The position may require assisting guests and handling equipment as needed. Work schedules may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and peak resort periods based on operational needs.
