Middle School Art Teacher (Grades 5–8)

Thrive Charter School is seeking a passionate, creative, and student-centered Art Teacher for Grades 5�8 to join our instructional team. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging, standards-based visual arts instruction while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression.

Position Overview

The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive visual arts program for students in grades 5 through 8. This includes lesson planning, instruction, assessment, classroom management, and contributing to a positive school culture.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate art instruction aligned to NJ Student Learning Standards Teach foundational and advanced art skills including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and art history Foster creativity, self-expression, and student confidence through visual arts Maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment Assess student work and provide meaningful feedback to support growth Display student artwork throughout the school and for school-wide exhibitions Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities Participate in school events, professional development, and staff meetings Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Art Education or related field (required) NJDOE certification in Art (K�12 or appropriate middle school certification) preferred or eligible Strong classroom management and instructional skills Experience working with middle school-aged students preferred Ability to inspire and engage students with diverse learning needs Strong communication and collaboration skills Compensation & Benefits $62,000/yr Health, dental, and retirement benefits (as applicable) Professional development opportunities Supportive school community focused on student success and staff growth
