The Risk Management Function is responsible for ensuring that the Bank adequately controls and manages credit, market, operational, liquidity and other relevant risks.

It ensures the Bank is fully compliant with all banking laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Position Overview

The Internal Auditor plays a vital supporting role in adding value and improving the Bank's operations by assisting the Chief Internal Auditor in bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. Working under CIA direction, the Internal Auditor supports the conduct of integrated internal audits and special reviews to provide assurance regarding the existence and effectiveness of financial, operational, and technology internal controls.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: Core Audit Support Activities Assist in actively conducting internal audit missions as per the annual internal audit plan, ensuring independent execution in accordance with regulatory requirements, risk mapping, and requests from executive bodies, under CIA direction; Support the follow-up and monitoring of the implementation of corrective measures related to recommendations issued by the internal audit function, external auditors, and the Head Office Internal Audit department; Assist in conducting controls and analyses of departmental practices to evaluate the reliability of documents, procedures, and compliance levels across the Bank; Support monitoring and assessment of the internal control and risk management system efficiency under CIA supervision; Assist in ensuring timely and accurate completion of routine and non-routine reporting requested by the Head Office Audit Department and support execution of diverse missions and inquiries assigned by Head Office Audit Department.

Stakeholder Coordination and Liaison Support Serve as supporting contact with the co-sourcing company regarding regulatory internal audit activities and approved audit plans, with primary liaison responsibilities retained by the CIA; Provide operational and administrative support for Head Office communication on internal audit matters; Assist in coordinating with External Auditors for on-site and off-site annual statutory audit activities under CIA direction; Prepare supporting documentation, analyses, and materials for audit function meetings and contribute to meeting preparation and reporting.

Governance, Advisory, and Control Support Support the Chief Internal Auditor in improving and maintaining internal audit-related policies and procedures; Assist in developing and updating internal audit risk assessment and planning methodologies; Provide supporting analysis and documentation in delivering proactive advice and recommendations to improve central administration, internal governance arrangements, and operational controls; Assist in preparing decision-support analysis and relevant metrics to support the audit reporting; Maintain functional and hierarchical independence and avoiding conflicts of interest.

Administrative and Backup Responsibilities Perform administrative and operational support tasks to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the audit function; In the absence of the CIA, provide operational continuity by managing routine audit tasks, documentation, and administrative matters (non-decision-making functions) Support assigned tasks or working arrangements based on applicable service level agreements; Undertake additional duties as necessary to support business needs.

Education

and Qualifications Master's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field; or Bachelor's degree with equivalent professional audit experience; Knowledge of international audit standards (IIA standards) and best practices. Professional audit certification (Certified Internal Auditor) is a strong plus.

Professional Experience Minimum 3 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, or compliance, preferably within the banking or financial services sector; Demonstrated experience assisting with integrated internal audit planning, execution, and follow-up procedures;. Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge Well-versed in the local Luxembourg regulatory landscape affecting the banking sector; Sound knowledge of EU compliance and risk regulations; Understanding of banking sector governance frameworks and best practices.

Technical Competencies Proficiency with audit software and data analytics tools; Advanced MS Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis, reporting support, and efficient risk analysis; Experience with financial systems and banking operational databases; Strong documentation and report writing support skills with ability to synthesize complex information clearly.
