Crop Production Manager

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Seed Production Manager to manage field-level seed production activities through contract farming. The role involves coordinating with farmers, providing foundation/parent seed, conducting regular field visits and inspections, ensuring adherence to production protocols, monitoring crop quality and coordinating harvesting and buyback of the produced seed.

Key Responsibilities

Identify, onboard and manage farmers for contract seed production. Plan seed production activities as per crop, season and production targets. Coordinate distribution of required seed and production inputs to contracted farmers. Conduct regular field visits, crop inspections and farmer meetings throughout the crop cycle.

Provide farmers with technical guidance and conduct training on seed production practices. Monitor crop growth, isolation, varietal purity, pest/disease management and other production parameters. Identify and address field-level issues and ensure corrective actions are taken on time. Maintain proper records of farmers, acreage, seed distribution, field inspections and crop status.

Coordinate with the Quality/Seed Production team for field inspections, sampling and quality assessment. Monitor harvesting activities and ensure proper handling and collection of seed. Coordinate harvest procurement/buyback from contracted farmers as per company requirements. Monitor production quantity, quality and recovery against planned targets.

Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers and local stakeholders. Prepare regular field visit, production and farmer-related reports for management. Qualification & Experience B.Sc. Agriculture / M.Sc. Agriculture / B.Tech Agriculture or related qualification preferred. 3+ years of relevant experience in seed production, contract farming, field production or agricultural operations.

Experience in managing farmers and field teams will be preferred. Candidates with experience in the seed industry will be given preference. Requirements

B.Sc. Agriculture / M.Sc. Agriculture / B.Tech Agriculture or related qualification. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in seed production, contract farming, field production, or agricultural operations. Prior experience in the seed industry will be preferred. Experience in farmer management, field inspections, and crop monitoring.

Good understanding of seed production practices, varietal purity, isolation, pest/disease management, and quality standards. Strong communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with farmers. Willingness to undertake extensive field travel across assigned areas. Ability to manage field activities independently, resolve production-related issues, and achieve production targets.

Valid driving licence and willingness to travel by two-wheeler will be preferred.
