Job Description: Medical Assistant Location: Abrams Dermatology ~ 3328 Bee Ridge Rd, Sarasota, FL, 34239 Full-time (Mon – Thu 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Fri 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) Job Summary We are seeking a highly organized and efficient Medical Assistant to join our team at Abrams Dermatology. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a medical setting, possess excellent customer service skills, and be able to work well in a team environment.

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting healthcare professionals in providing patient care, performing administrative tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of the medical office. The ability to multi-task, problem solve, and work collaboratively with colleagues is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Take patient histories. Document current medications, allergies, and past procedures. Prepare instruments and exam rooms for biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, or laser treatments. Assist the dermatologist during procedures (e.g., handing instruments, ensuring sterility). Apply dressings and provide wound care instructions.

Label and prepare skin biopsy specimens for pathology labs. Provide instructions for wound care, medication use, and follow-up. Call in prescriptions or send electronically as directed. Call patients with test results, reminders, or instructions. Clean and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms. Follow proper protocols for disposal of biohazardous materials.
