A Catholic elementary school seeks a nurturing, faith‑filled, and dedicated 1st Grade Teacher committed to guiding young learners academically, spiritually, and socially. The role is ministerial in nature and requires supporting and communicating the teachings of the Catholic Church implicitly and explicitly Essential Duties & Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that support student learning across core content areas Assess student growth and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and administrators Implement school discipline policies and maintain a positive, well‑managed classroom environment Maintain accurate records for student performance, discipline, lesson plans, and communication Communicate regularly with parents, colleagues, and administrators in a timely and professional manner Participate in school activities, including events, fundraisers, field trips, and supervision duties Attend faculty meetings, diocesan trainings, and professional development, including Catholic Identity Formation Training when required Support and reinforce Catholic teaching throughout daily instruction and interactions Catholic Identity Expectations Understand and uphold the mission and philosophy of Catholic education Model the moral teachings of the Catholic Church in personal and professional conduct Practicing Catholic preferred, or an individual with strong knowledge of Catholic teaching and traditions Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field Valid Michigan teaching certificate, or willingness to enroll in an approved program within six months of hire Ability to work independently and collaboratively, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate professionalism in challenging situations Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written and oral instructions
