What You’ll Do

As a PRN RN at Minden Medical Center, you help keep patient care organized, safe, and consistent—especially when the unit needs extra clinical coverage. You’ll deliver direct care within your RN scope while supporting smooth coordination across the shift.

Key responsibilities include

completing timely assessments; addressing patient needs promptly; documenting accurately in the medical record; completing admissions paperwork and ensuring daily documentation is thorough, signed, and dated; communicating patient issues with medical staff; coordinating care in line with policies, procedures, TJC standards, and federal/state regulations; participating in Performance Improvement via assigned chart monitoring; and following Infection Control/Employee Health guidelines.

Qualifications/skills:

• Active RN license; practices within scope
• Charge Nurse capability as assigned; oversight of ancillary staff
• Able to provide nursing staff oversight in the ND’s absence and escalate issues appropriately

A Typical Shift

You’ll start by getting oriented to the unit’s current priorities and connecting with the team to understand what needs attention during your PRN coverage. Throughout the shift, you’ll move between patient rooms and the nurses’ station, balancing focused bedside time with clear updates to the broader care team.

You’ll collaborate closely with ancillary staff and providers, keeping communication steady as patient situations evolve. When assigned, you’ll step into a charge role—helping the unit stay coordinated and ensuring questions get answered quickly. You’ll also make time to complete required chart checks and close out documentation so the next shift has a clean, reliable handoff.
