About the Role
The Plant Operator plays a critical role in the efficient and safe operation of processing plants within the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction industry. This position is responsible for monitoring and controlling plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with environmental and safety standards.
The Plant Operator will manage water treatment processes, maintain pump systems, and balance operational parameters to maximize productivity and minimize downtime. Through vigilant observation and timely intervention, the operator ensures that plant operations run smoothly, supporting the overall extraction and processing objectives.
This role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement to uphold operational excellence and environmental stewardship.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience operating industrial plant equipment, preferably in mining, quarrying, or oil and gas sectors. Basic understanding of water treatment processes and pump operation. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and operational procedures. Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in plant operations or related technical field. Experience with automated control systems and SCADA technology. Knowledge of balancing techniques for process optimization. Familiarity with regulatory requirements specific to mining and oil and gas extraction. Mechanical aptitude and experience performing minor repairs and adjustments.
Responsibilities
Monitor and control plant equipment including pumps and water treatment systems to maintain efficient operation. Perform routine inspections and maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety compliance. Adjust operational parameters to balance system performance and optimize throughput. Record and report operational data, incidents, and maintenance activities accurately.
Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly. Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and company safety policies during all operational activities. Participate in training and development programs to stay current with industry best practices and technological advancements.
Skills: The required skills of balancing, water treatment, and pump operation are integral to the Plant Operator's daily tasks, enabling precise control over plant processes to maintain efficiency and safety. Balancing skills are applied to adjust flow rates and pressures, ensuring stable and optimized system performance.
Knowledge of water treatment is essential for managing the quality and treatment of process water, which impacts both operational effectiveness and environmental compliance. Proficiency with pumps allows the operator to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical equipment that moves fluids throughout the plant.
Preferred skills
such as familiarity with automated control systems and mechanical aptitude enhance the operator's ability to quickly respond to system changes and equipment issues, contributing to continuous plant reliability and productivity.
