Direct Tax Compliance Specialist (recruiting from Malta only)

Our client, a respected organization in Malta, is currently seeking a senior Direct Tax Compliance Specialist to join their team. The position is responsible for ensuring the quality of all corporate tax compliance work, statutory reporting, and adherence to international standards, while also driving continuous improvement and the adoption of technological solutions within the function.

Key Responsibilities

Define and execute the tax strategy, driving growth, efficiency, innovation, and the adoption of technology. Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, providing high level technical and business oriented tax advice. Advise on complex corporate structures, reorganizations, M&A transactions, international investments, and transfer pricing.

Oversee corporate tax compliance, statutory reporting, and obligations under local and international regulations. Manage tax risk, ensuring the proper implementation of internal policies, controls, and procedures. Lead, develop, and manage the tax team, including performance management, training, and resource planning.

Contribute to business development by identifying growth opportunities and supporting commercial initiatives. Build and maintain strong, long term relationships with key clients. Participate in the development of technical content, briefings, and thought leadership materials.

Requirements

Strong experience in tax advisory and compliance within professional or financial services environments. In depth knowledge of Maltese tax legislation and international frameworks (OECD, BEPS, Pillar 2, FATCA, CRS). Proven experience in team leadership and managing complex client portfolios. Degree in Accounting, Law, Taxation, or equivalent.

Strong analytical and strategic thinking with a business-oriented mindset. Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
