Programme Delivery Associate
Job description
We are hiring a Programme Delivery Associate to own the on-the-ground delivery of a new distributor-credit programme in one of three states: Lagos, Edo, or Kano. FMCG distributors already give goods on credit to the micro-retailers they supply; this programme lets formal capital flow into those trusted relationships, so distributors can back far more retailers than their own cash allows.
You will be the person closest to the market: signing up large distributors, linking them to partner lenders, and keeping two lending models running in the field. This is not a desk or analyst job, and not a lending or credit- officer seat. You will spend much of your week at distributor depots and in open markets, and the programme stays strictly neutral, so you enable the relationship and protect the data rather than make the credit decisions.
THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
- Build the distributor pipeline. Find and qualify the large FMCG distributors worth bringing in, then pitch the owners and managers yourself. Run onboarding from first meeting to signed agreement: profiling, documentation, and linking each distributor to the right partner lender. Keep an honest, current view of where every distributor stands and what is blocking it.
- Make two lending models work. Be the day-to-day link between distributors and lenders across both models: one where the distributor borrows and on-lends to retailers, one where a lender lends to retailers with the distributor as agent. Support drawdowns, retailer sign-up, disbursement, collections, and reconciliation. When something stalls on the ground, you are the person who sorts it out.
- Bring retailers in. Grow the number of micro-retailers actually using credit through your distributors, with real attention to reaching women retailers. A signed distributor is the start, not the win. Success is retailers borrowing, repaying, and coming back.
- Keep the records honest. Provide clean, accurate, timely data and documentation that borrower-level and funder reporting depend on. Work closely with the Programme Analyst so what you see in the field and what the programme reports match. If a number does not add up, you catch it before it goes out.
- Report, learn, and stay neutral. Track your states targets on schedule and capture what the pilot is teaching us. Hold the programmes neutrality in every conversation, and treat every distributors business data as confidential.
Requirements
- A bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience. We care more about what you have done than where you studied.
- 4–7 years of experience in business development, sales or trade operations, microfinance or SME banking, FMCG distribution, or field-based programme delivery. Experience selling to or working with distributors, agents, or small business owners is a strong signal.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, the state you apply for, with real knowledge of the local trade environment and fluency in the relevant local language.
- You can open a door and close a deal. You have built business relationships from scratch and taken them all the way to a signed agreement, and you can point to specific ones.
- You are comfortable with how credit works, or you learn it fast. Assessment, disbursement, collections, and reconciliation do not intimidate you.
- You finish what you start. You keep a pipeline moving, chase what you are owed without being asked, and find another route when the first one is blocked. You do not need managing day to day.
- You keep clean records. You are the kind of person others trust to get the numbers right, and you check your own work before it goes out.
- You are straight and discreet. You own your mistakes, you do not bend the rules to please a big customer, and you keep sensitive business data to yourself.
Benefits
Comprehensive benefits including health coverage, pension, PTO, and performance-based incentives.
