Malaria Program Trainer

PCR, KenyaPosted Nov 2, 2026

Job description

Are you driven to find innovative solutions to urgent global health challenges? You can play a vital role in supporting Kenya’s National Malaria Control Program in its fight against malaria. Although Kenya has made major strides in malaria control, progress has slowed in recent years. Growing resistance to antimalarial medicines and insecticides, emerging mosquito vectors, and environmental shifts are contributing to increased transmission.

Malaria remains one of Kenya’s most pressing public health concerns and is responsible for over 16 percent of outpatient visits, with 70 percent of the population at risk. Fourteen million people live in high malaria transmission areas where prevalence reaches up to 38 percent. The National Malaria Control Program aims to reduce malaria-related hospital fatalities from 15 percent to 5 percent and advance long-term strategies aimed at eventual eradication.

Rural populations often have limited access to health facilities, weak referral systems, and gaps in health literacy, which hinder early treatment and adoption of preventive practices. Inconsistent data use further restricts effective decision making and resource allocation. These challenges directly impact Kenya’s ability to achieve its health policy goals.

As a Malaria Program Trainer working with YOFAK or Kiwimbi International, you will support community health promoters to strengthen malaria case management, improve surveillance data and referrals of pregnant women who miss antenatal visits, enhance community-level malaria services, develop school-based malaria education programs and promote use of insecticide-treated nets, and increase malaria vaccine administration among children under five.
