Technical Director

A leading international industrial group, one of the world's major manufacturers of ceramic and porcelain tiles, is seeking to appoint a Technical Director for one of its flagship manufacturing plants in Egypt. The company is part of one of Egypt's largest industrial groups, employing approximately 10,000 people . Its state-of-the-art ceramic manufacturing facility employs more than 1,800 professionals , producing ceramic and porcelain tiles for both the domestic market and numerous international markets.

Over recent years, the company has made substantial investments in the latest ceramic manufacturing technologies, automation, robotics and digital printing, creating one of the most advanced production facilities in the region. ​ The Position The successful candidate will assume overall responsibility for Production, Maintenance, Quality and Technical Processes , ensuring maximum plant performance, product quality, equipment reliability and the continuous optimisation of manufacturing operations.

The role has full responsibility for all production areas, including: Body preparation and raw materials Slip preparation and milling Spray drying Pressing Dryers Glazing and decoration Kilns Polishing and rectification Sorting and packaging Key responsibilities include: Define, implement and monitor the key performance indicators (KPIs) for all departments under your responsibility.

Optimise manufacturing processes, production flow and overall plant efficiency. Lead the resolution of technical issues related to production, quality, manufacturing processes and equipment. Oversee ceramic body formulation development and raw material optimisation. Coordinate the activities of Production, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain and R&D to ensure smooth and uninterrupted plant operations.

Design and implement continuous improvement programmes across all manufacturing areas. Ensure full compliance with safety standards, quality requirements and operating procedures. Develop the technical and leadership capabilities of the management teams through training, coaching and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

15–20 years' experience in the ceramic and porcelain tile manufacturing industry. Extensive experience in senior Technical Management or Production Management positions with responsibility for multiple functional areas. Proven track record managing large-scale ceramic manufacturing plants. Strong technical expertise in: Ceramic body formulation and raw material optimisation.

Glazes, pigments, frits, inks and decorative finishes. Kiln optimisation and firing defect analysis. Polishing, rectification and finishing processes. Process improvement, waste reduction and first-quality yield optimisation.
